Our Story

We built this because the existing tools felt broken.

A longer-form look at why ChoiceIdentity exists, the decisions we made early, and the principles we refuse to compromise on.

The origin

A credit service that feels like a product, not a phone menu.

Identity theft and credit trouble are not abstract concerns — they are the kind of things that sneak up on busy people and then detonate quietly in the background. A denied loan application. A mystery account opened in your name. A dip in your score that nobody explains.

The tools to catch this stuff early already existed, but they were locked behind dense signup flows, surprise upsells, and dashboards that looked like a 1998 tax form. We set out to build what most people actually want: a clean, daily check-in that tells you whether your identity and credit are okay, and gives you the full picture on demand without making you feel upsold.

ChoiceIdentity is small, US-based, security-minded, and obsessed with clarity. We exist because that particular combination of traits is surprisingly rare in this category — and we think it matters.

Chapter by chapter

How we got here

  1. Late 2025

    The question that started everything

Why is checking your credit and identity health still so hard? Every tool on the market felt like it was designed by a 1990s bank IT department — PDF downloads, five-tier pricing, alerts that made you Google the jargon. The founding conversation was not "how do we make another monitoring service" — it was "how do we make this feel like a modern app a real person would use."

  2. Early 2026

    Forming the company

ChoiceIdentity LLC was formed in Albuquerque, NM, with a clear charter: one flat monthly plan, one flat report price, nothing hidden, and FCRA-aware handling from the very first line of code. The founding team wrote the security architecture and the dashboard prototype in the same sprint — security was never bolted on, it was baked in.

  3. Mid 2026

    Shipping the product

We launched with a single dashboard that shows what matters: your Identity Confidence Score, a clean 1-bureau credit overview, and the ability to pull a full 3-bureau report on demand. No upsell banners, no price tiers, no noisy upgrades. If you need the full report, you click a button. If you do not, you never see it.

  4. Now

    Listening, tuning, improving

Every week we look at what members are actually doing, what they are asking about, and what they are telling us is confusing. The dashboard evolves toward clarity and away from clutter. When we add something, we prove it earns its place.

“Protecting your identity should not feel like filing taxes. It should feel like checking the weather — five seconds, clear answer, on with your day.”
— The ChoiceIdentity founding team
Decisions we made early

The non-negotiables

Four calls we made in the first month of building — and still refuse to compromise on.

01

One price, no tiers

Three-tier pricing makes credit protection feel like a gym membership negotiation. We offer a single monthly plan with everything included, plus one flat fee for a full report when you need it.

02

Bank-grade security from day one

Row-level security on every table. Bank-grade encryption at rest and in transit. Audit trails on every sensitive action. We did not ship MVP-grade and upgrade later — the compliance architecture was there the morning we launched.

03

Plain-language everything

Alerts read like a friend texting you, not like a credit-bureau compliance officer. Dashboards show you what changed and what to do, not seventeen cryptic codes.

04

No dark patterns

Cancel buttons are one click. Hidden fees do not exist. If you run a report and it fails, you are refunded before you have to ask.

Where we're based

Albuquerque, NM. The whole team is US-based — and so is every support conversation.

Who we build for

Everyday members across the US who want to keep an eye on their identity and credit without becoming part-time compliance analysts.
